ACADEMICS
At Blackman High School, we stress the importance of academics in the lives of our student-athletes. This starts at the top with the support of BHS Principal Leisa Justus and her commitment to academic excellence. Head Coach Kit Hartsfield also prioritizes academics with his off-season team's commitment in the class room that promotes great work.

The Blackman Blaze Football team honors its members who achieve academic excellence at the end of each nine weeks. Players that make all A's during a six weeks will be placed on the Blaze Football Academic Coaches' List. Players that make all A's and B's during a six weeks will be placed on the Blaze Football Academic Honor Roll. Players that make all A's as their semester grades will be placed on the Blackman Blaze All-Academic 1st Team, Players that Make A's and B's on semester grades will be placed on the Blackman Blaze All-Academic 2nd Team. The teams average GPA will be announced following each nine weeks.

TSSAA ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY RULES
A student must earn five credits the preceding school year if less than 24 units are required for graduation or six credits the preceding school year if 24 or more credits are required for graduation. All credits must be earned by the first day of the beginning of the school year.
 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE NCAA STUDENT ATHLETES


Students who are wishing to play sports at the collegiate level must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Students should not register with the Clearinghouse until after the completion of their junior year of high school. All student-athletes must complete 16 core courses in high school to be eligible to participate in NCAA Division I or Division II sports.

Enter Blackman High School’s high school code, 431636, and click submit. You should be able to view the list of approved core courses for our school.
